PETS HYGIENE 101 ANG GROOMING TIPS FOR PET OWNERS

          Dear pet lovers, keeping your pet clean and healthy is essential for their well-being. Below are some key hygiene practices every pet owner should follow.

  1. BATHING:

    (a)Dogs: They should be bathed every 4-6 weeks (or as needed) with pet-friendly shampoo e.g emporium shampoo

       (b)Cats: Most cats self-groom, but occasional baths may be needed for long-haired or older cats.

       (c) Small pets: Avoid full baths instead, use damp clothes or pet wipe

      2. BRUSHING: (a) Your pets should be brushed regularly to reduce shedding, prevention of matting of the coat and also to keep their cats healthy.

      (b)Trim long-haired pet’s fur, especially around the eyes and paws.

      3. DENTAL CARE: Brush your pets tooth several times a week with pet-safe toothpaste e.g provide dental chews or toys to help maintain oral hygiene

      4. EAR AND EYE CLEANING: (a) Check ears weekly for dirt, wart build-up, or infections. Use vet approved ear cleaners. (b) Gently wipe around the eyes to prevent tear stains and infections.

      5. PAW AND NAIL CARE: (a) Trim nails regularly to prevent overgrowth and discomfort. (b) Wipe paws after walks to remove dirt, bacteria or chemicals.  

      6. LITTER BOX AND TOILET HYGIENE: (a) Clean litter boxes daily and change the litter weekly (b) For dogs: Clean up waste promptly to prevent odour and disease spread.

      7. BEDDING AND LIVING AREAS: (a) Wash pet beds, blankets and toys regularly. (b) Keep their living space clean and free from dirt and parasites

      8. FLEA, TICK AND PARASITE PREVENTION: (a) Use vet recommended flea and tick preventatives. (b) Regular check for signs of parasites especially the outdoor pets.
